Kogi State Government, through the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, has approved academic intervention Radio Program for students to bridge the gap of the period of COVID-19 ‘stay-at home’ school closure.
The commissioner for Education, Science and Technology. Hon Wemi Jones, FCIB, disclosed this while speaking to newsmen in Lokoja, over the prolonged Stay-at home by students due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
According to the commissioner, the Radio program would commence as from April 16, 2020, for basic and secondary education with specific emphasis on students in JSS 3 and SSS3 classes to help them prepare for their forthcoming Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) and West Africa Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (WASCE, NECO) respectively.
He said the program would run throughout the duration of the school closure due to the COVID-19 pandemic stating that the ministry was exploring other convenient E-learning measures to reach out to all level of education in the state.
He urged parents and guardians to ensure their wards took advantage of the opportunity offered by the initiative.
The Commissioner commended the Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, for this laudable intervention.
The details scheduled for the Radio lessons which would run from Monday -Saturday weekly would be aired on Radio Kogi, Confluence FM 94.1.
