Kogi State governor, Idris Wada, on Thursday, in Lokoja, charged civil servants in the state to be computer literate, in order to be able to perform their duties efficiently.
Speaking during the presentation of a 32-seater bus to Kogi State Polytechnics by the management of Cyber Space Company, Wada called on civil servants in the state to try as much as possible to be computer literate, as the state would soon commence e-governance.
According to him, “when you are computer literate, you would be able to send memo through e-mail and internet. You do it through the polytechnics and cyber space.”
He commended Cyber Space for partnering with the state polytechnic, saying that he is committed to improving education in the state and that without education ,the transformation agenda cannot be achieved.
The Managing Director of Cyber Space, Stanley Oduah, said the donation was part of the company social responsibility to the institution as a result of their partnership.
He said the bus would help to solve transportation problem presently being experience by the students and teachers from the main campus and Osara campus of the polytechnic, assuring that the polytechnic would benefit immensely from the partnership.
The Rector of the Polytechnic, Professor Mathew Ajibero, believed the partnership with Cyber Space on Information Communication Technology(ICT) system to make both students and lecturers computer literate.
He said with the aid of Cyber Space, the institution has upgraded its ICT facilities, saying that over 200 computer are already directly linked to internet.
