A gubernatorial aspirant in Kogi State, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, has said he is contesting the forthcoming governorship election in the state in order to fulfil the dreams of its founding fathers.
Bello, who is contesting on the All Progressives Congress (APC) platform stated this at the weekend in Kabba, in Kabba/Bunu LGA of the state during his consultation visit to the palace of the Obaro of Kabba, Oba (Dr.) Michael Olobayo.
He said successive administrations have not been able to fulfill the dream of the founding fathers, which necessitated his seeking to occupy the government house and make a difference.
Bello said he was at the palace of the Obaro of Kabba to seek royal blessing in his desire and determination to liberate the state from the shackle of under-development.
“Many people have asked me why at just 40 years I have decided to run for the governorship. Successive government who in their 60s have occupied the government house had jettison the dreams of our founding fathers; whom in 1991 when coming together, wanted Kogi among the three most developed states in the country.
“I have come to fulfil that dream. And if given the chance I will. I will first revamp the education sector which has gone to the drain in the state. Education was what the late sage, Obafemi Awolowo, used to change the South-West and make them a leading force in the country,” he said.
