The Kogi State First Lady, Hajia Sefinat Usman Ododo, has urged stakeholders across Nigeria to rally behind every girl-child to excel in their chosen careers.

Hajia Ododo made the call in a statement on Friday in Lokoja, as Kogi State Government joined the global community to celebrate the 2024 International Day of the Girl Child.

The theme for the 2024 Int’l Day of the Girl Child is; “Girls’ Vision For The Future”, which emphasizes the importance of listening to girls’ voices and supporting their aspirations for a brighter future..

The Kog first lady reiterated the need for government, organisations and relevant stakeholders to invest more in empowerment programmes to enable the girl child to reach their full potential.

This, she said would help to address the myriads of challenges impacting their growth and equally sustain the hope for a brighter future for the average girl child in Nigeria.

Mrs Ododo stressed that the girl child has consistently shown courage and determination in her quest to make life better for their families and the society as a whole.

According to her, since inception of the Gov. Ododo-led Administration in Kogi,, she has championed various initiatives towards women empowerment.

“Empowerment of Girls in ICT and vocational education, which has provided girls with skills and resources to thrive in technology as well as supporting young girls’ participation in agriculture for economic growth.

“The impact of the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI) of the Wife of the President, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, which has also empowered more young girls and women in the country and restored their hope for a better future,” she said.

She, therefore felicitated with the girl child on this day, and reaffirmed her commitment to continue to support and address issues hindering the progress of the girl child in Kogi State.
