Kogi Fashion and Design Week Begins Dec 22

The 2017 edition of Kogi Fashion and Design Week (KFDW) will commence on Friday, December 22 with  fashion trade fair in Lokoja.
Speaking with newsmen in Lokoja, the spokesperson for Kogi Hub, organisers of the event, Olowoyotan Jude said the Fashion and Design Week is a multi-day fashion and entrepreneurial event that aims to drive the fashion industry and also lifts its profile in Kogi State by bringing together buyers, consumers, media and the government.
According to him, the fashion week is a platform that will help in repositioning fashion as a useful tool for commerce and revenue.
He explained that the two-day event will feature runway shows that will showcase latest creative collections from talented fashion designers in the state. Kogi Fashion Trade Fair will hold on the first day of the event, featuring fashion designs, fashion products, textiles, clothing, accessories, foods and general business products on display and for sale.
“Kogi State is an attraction itself. Lokoja, the host city of KFDW2017, is a metropolitan town that features interesting mix of people, culture, tourism and is fast becoming an open gateway for more business opportunities, thereby creating revenue for the state.
“30 designers and 30 models will be screened to participate in the event. Each designer will have an opportunity to sell their collection at the Kogi Fashion Trade Fair.
“First day will start with the press conference to give an insight on KFDW2017, the Kogi Fashion Trade Fair begins from 9am to 2pm. Designers and entrepreneurs will be given an opportunity to exhibit and sell their collections. Kogi Fashion Trade Fair will avail these talented designers and such as shoemakers, jewelers, hair stylist, make-up artist and boutiques giving them a wider and a more open platform for their work to be seen by attendees at the trade fair.
The red carpet festivity starts from 4pm. By 5:30pm, the main runway show starts. The first 15 designers showcase on the first day.

“On the second day, the remaining 15 designers will showcase their designs. During the runway show, awards will be presented to recipients who will be nominated for different categories, such as KFDW young entrepreneur of the year, designer of the year, fashionable SA of the year, fashionable commissioner of the year, fashionable political office holder,” he said.
