Tragedy struck, again, yesterday as seven teachers allegedly lost their lives in a ghastly motor accident along Ankpa road.
The accident which claimed seven lives of civil servants according to report, occurred when the victims were going back to the eastern flank after they were turned back by the screening committee for not presenting their first school leaving certificate.
According to a family source, one of the deceased broke down in tears after she presented her credentials to the screening committee only to be informed that she will not be attended to until she presented her primary school certificate. She cried and complained to members of the committee that for nine months she had not receivedย her salary, she has borrowed to met up the date and time scheduled by the committee.
Our source explained that, when the committee objected they have no choice than to contribute money to transport themselves back home with the intention of coming back for the screening. Unfortunately, tragedy struck and the said worker died along six others in the auto crash.
It be recalled that this is the fourth accidents recorded along this road since the screening started eight months ago, where civil servants traveling to search for their legitimate earnings that was not forthcoming lost their lives.
