Kogi Patriotic Group (KPG) has condemned Kogi State Government for authoring and sponsoring the documentary alleging lack of basic amenities in Senator Atai Aidoko’s ancestral home, Ugbamaka.
Media officer of the group, Abdul Abdul, who disclosed this while interacting with newsmen in Lokoja, said the state government is scared of Aidoko’s rising political profile.
He stated that the resolve to save Kogi from the current ‘holier than thou’ leadership has been resisted through all forms of political gimmicks.
Abdul said it is not possible for a federal lawmaker to under-utilise or deliberately starve his constituency of funds made available for social intervention as these funds are not given to the representatives directly. He added that efforts of Kogi government to discredit Aidoko is fruitless.
The image maker described the circulated video clip as unfortunate the clip, claiming that the state government has denied the people of social services through diversion of state funds made available by SDGs and UBEC for construction of hospitals, provision of water, light, construction of schools and renovation of dilapidated ones by owing contractors.
“In Kogi, SDGs and UBEC projects being executed are not funded as money originally meant for it were diverted to other bogus renovation and needless projects billed to siphon state funds. Contractors are left to battle with debts.
“It is obvious that social infrastructure were on ground from the documentary, ranging from clinics, school buildings, electricity and water desiring to be augmented by the state government whose statutory function has been abandoned on the altar of bitter politicking,” he said.
He said the senator is not deterred by the obvious misplaced priorities but making efforts to bridge the glaring gap through rejiging his constituency machinery to address this anomaly forthwith.
“We are not unaware that after the failed media hype sponsored by this same agents by alleging declaration of Aidoko’s seat vacant by the Appeal Court, were there was none, they have resorted to instigation leaving the burden of governance to pauperised civil servants/pensioners and Kogites.
“Without reservation, the easiest thing to do later in 2019 Kogi governorship election is to remove this crop of leaders with our PVC without any regrets,” Abdul said.
He expressed solidarity with the senator, encouraging him not to be perturbed by the antics of the current ‘gate crashers’
