The Senator representing Kogi East Senatorial District, Air Marshal (Rtd) Isaac Alfa, through his lawyer has urged his teaming supporters and the good people of Kogi East Senatorial District to remain undisturbed by the purported judgement delivered by the Appeal Court in the matter of the PDP Senatorial Primary Election of 2014.

According to Sen. Alfa’s lawyer,  Barr. Reuben Egwaba,

“we are not bothered by this judgement of the Appeal Court. Available evidences and as it has been determined by all other courts that have entertained this matter show that Sen Isaac Alfa won the primary of the Peoples Democratic Party for the Kogi East Senatorial Election which was conducted at Idah in 2014. The Appeal Court earlier ruled that Sen Alfa was the authentic candidate of the PDP in that primary election haven polled the highest number of votes and as testified by the party Zonal Chairman and INEC officials in court. The same court cannot approbate and reprobate.

Nobody can go to court and claim the ticket to run for a particular election without the consent and support of a political party and no competent court should even listen to such individuals; Sen Alfa has the support of his party till this moment unlike the petitioner. The judgement given was to the request of the petitioner to allow the matter being transferred to the lower court to enable him call more witnesses and has nothing to do with the seat of the Senate as currently occupied by Air Marshal (Rtd) Isaac Alfa. Sen Alfa’s supporters are therefore advised not to be bothered by today’s judgement of the Appeal Court”.

Air Marshal Isaac Mohammed Alfa won the primary election on the platform of the PDP to run for Kogi East Senatorial District in the 2015 election but it was alleged that there was disruption in the ballot counting processes when a particular candidate discovered the result was not going in his favour after which Mr Aidoko announced himself as the winner of the primary.

Air Marshal Isaac Alfa challenged the result of that primary election and won at the Appeal Court in July, 2016 before he went for the concluding part of the rerun and was declared winner and returned elected as Senator representing Kogi East in the National Assembly.

While urging the supporters and the people of the district, Barr Egwaba said the judgement will be appealed immediately.
