By now, discerning Kogi Easterners should understand that though the People’s Democratic Party PDP is recuperating from the pristine defeat of 2015, its not interested in a semblance of free and fair election. Perhaps, if it eventually grasp power in 2019, it will never create an enabling environment for conducting free and fair election in Nigeria. Instead, their interest will be vested in getting their ways by hook or by crook.
The democratic space we are trying to deepen will only be constricted. Trust me, if PDP returns power in 2019, there will be no respect for the rule of law and civil liberties, but the priorities of national interest which is subject to personal interpretation will be placed above the rule of law. Without equivocation, the party’s desperate and ruthless activities posits a high risk and danger to the practice and sustenance of democracy in Nigeria.
The senatorial primaries of the party in Idah revealed beyond doubt, its fraudulent intention to rig the 2019 elections. Every sane kogi Easterner should have seen it via the slated October 2nd primaries that had designated officers from INEC but never took place. It was such a brazen and concocted scheme in our time.
Fellow Kogi Easterners, there is no need for complacent. We must resist it now before it gets out of hand. We must think twice before handing over our constituency to these clueless, anti democratic forces and false propagandists hell-bent on ramming Igala/Bassa to crevasse. It will amount to the biggest electoral fraud in Nigeria’s history if we do not interrogate their actions to ensure they conform to democratic standard.
Let me not bore you with detailed account of the kangaroo arrangement. But an instance of democratic travesty here was the sales of nomination and expression of interest forms to other aspirants. Whereas, it won’t conduct the expected primaries. I have waited to hear that PDP (Kogi East) has/will refund their money to no avail. I have also longed for an official brief from the national chairman of the party (Uche Secondus).
Even if there is an MOU between perceived aggrieve members of APC (the real political gamblers) and the rejuvenating PDP that favored some incumbent senators, there was an explicit message excluding Kogi East from the consensus arrangement.
To further proven their barbaric show of shame, the hypocritical last minute screening that had only the serving senators in attendance was actually kept from the knowledge of other contestants premeditatedly, to disqualify them or pave way senator Aidoko who has under represented his constituency for sixteen years.
The Independent National Electoral Commission, (Mahmood Yakubu – led INEC) was also at its peak. At first, the designated officers for the primaries, chief Agbenemi and Alhaji Faruk Sule declared at a press conference that it did not hold. And that was followed by a propaganda from INEC devulging to the media that Kogi East senatorial seat under PDP is vacant.
Barely a month later, the news goofed that Aidoko polled 712 votes to defeat other contestants at the October 2nd PDP primaries in Idah. The public outcry over the injustice meted against other aspirants were thwarted, and without official address from the state chairman of the party, PDP national chairman and the INEC, senator Attai Aidoko emerged PDP’s flag bearer for the senatorial post.
Aidoko been the chief murderer of justice has not relent. Why? Because, the fact remains that he cannot poll more than 18 votes in a free and fair election in Kogi East. Get me right, the 18 votes is probably the two delegates from each LG which he has financially induced. Therefore, every dispensable option is been explored regardless of whose ox is gored. He has been dolling out millions presumably the constituency looted funds including cars to party executives across the nine LG. At a separate meetings in Lokoja that was alleged to have had the likes of Timothy Omora, Ndah Paddy, Hon. Igagwu, Hon. Andulkareem, Ohiemi, MM Oseni, representing Ankpa, Dekina, Ofu, Bassa, Olamaboro, Ibaji and Igalamela respectively in attendance, Aidoko conceded to a dismal performance in the last sixteen years but promised to do better this time. He however inaugurated his ‘9’ wise men to disrupt any anti party activities up to the ward levels across all the 9 LG. Alas! The message Aidoko and his cohorts have not got is, like the story of Saul in the Bible, God has left him.
Fellow Kogi Easterners, I have earlier stated that Aidoko cannot poll ten vote in a free and fair election. But, no one should be subjected to the illusion that he will lose or concede defeat easily in the 2019 general election. Why? Because;
The party executives and other merchants of vices in his camp don’t just go to Abuja to collect money, they are made to compromise their conscience under a covenant to work for him death or alive. This is in addition to his usual court actions.
Wait a minute, is this stupidity or ignorance? To risk one’s precious life for someone who will not even descend so low to attend your burial? Only God knows what these men will tell their wives and children when leaving home on the day of election. No wonder the say, thugs don’t have grandchild, because they do not live till they are born.
Besides, a popular aspirant from the senatorial district who seems to be Aidoko’s worse nightmares is always quoted to be saying; whoever must pay for your vote does not worth your vote. Sir, wherever you are, may you live long.
This is exactly what’s is going on but in the fullness of time, we shall hold the defenders of this impunity accountable.
Meanwhile, me must expose and scatter the evil foundation before it gets out of hand.
Kogi Easterners, please take note.
