Ahead of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) primaries in Kogi East, the aspiration of Engr. John Ibrahim Ocheje has been enjoying the endorsement of Kogi East party delegates across the three Federal constituencies in the senatorial district.
The Forum of Delegates in Idah Federal Constituency which comprises of delegates of the party from Idah, Ofu, Ibaji and Igalamela-Odolo local government areas are in synergy to produce a consensus aspirant from the constituency to face the incumbent Senator Atai Aidoko from Ankpa Federal Constituency at the primary election coming up this month.
The Forum’s major task, as revealed, is to chart a course for easy victory of the party at the general elections by ensuring Engr Ibrahim picks the party’s sole ticket.
According to a reliable source from the Forum: “Engr. John Ibrahim is the preferred amongst the aspirants jostling for our party’s ticket for Kogi East Senate.”
The source explained that they endorsed John Ibrahim based on his loyalty to the party, his act of generosity and humanitarian service rendered to his immediate community through the provision of boreholes and scholarships to some students of his local government Area, Ibaji.
He argued that these factors put him at a vantage position of garnering massive support for the party at the general elections.
Revealing further, the source pointed out that: “our greatest strength as delegates from Idah Federal Constituency comes from the fact that our fellow delegates from Dekina and Ankpa Federal constituencies have given our constituency the support to produce the next Kogi East Senator, so the ball is in our court.”
While reiterating that Engr. John Ibrahim’s aspiration is a goodwill for both the Party and the good people of Kogi East, the PDP’s delegates are boasting that their Party’s Convention in Idah Federal Constituency shall give them undebated direction at the district’s convention. Noting that some people are into the race for the district Senate ticket under the PDP because they take the Party’s opposition as an advantage and also a dumping ground which if what they are looking for is not given would surely go away.
A source from the Coalition of Delegates from the three Federal Constituencies in the senatorial district revealed that the Party cannot afford to miss the personality of John Ibrahim whose product has been greatly missed by the generality of Kogi east because of the inordinate ambitions of the few since 1999 that have robbed him.
Meanwhile, supporters of other aspirants have been attacking themselves on the genuineness of claims of endorsement for their various aspirants by the leaders of the Party in the state. A close source to Engr. John Ibrahim revealed that he (John Ibrahim) has admonished his supporters to remain calm and steadfast in their underground working for his aspiration.
The source, revealing further, stated that “John Ibrahim understands the dynamism of PDP primaries because of his longterm experiences under the Party and as such has been into consultations with the Party Leaders and the Delegates across the senatorial district who assured him of their unfiltered supports to lead the party to victory.”
According to the source, John Ibrahim has described the debates by some Aspirants supporters on their aspirations as fruitless venture undertaken to divert the minds of the good people of Kogi East who are in need of responsible representation.
“Everyone of us has received the endorsements of our Party Leaders in one way or the other and it has been rare privileges for all of us, nobody should personalised that.
“The positions of our Party Leaders can best be described as the position of a Royal Father who declares support for everyone for the purpose of uniting all.”
