Senator representing Kogi East, Atai Aidoko Ali has debunked media claims on alleged controversy surrounding the senatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for Kogi East.
In a statement issued by his media office, Aidoko said he remains the candidate of the PDP for the 2019 Kogi East senatorial election.
He urged the general public, particularly the people of Kogi East to disregard the rumour of disqualification making rounds, giving the impression that the party has no candidate for the senatorial election.
He described the rumour as unfounded and lies from the pit of hell.
According to the statement, the electoral committee and the appeal panel of the party have submitted their reports that clearly showed that Senator Atai Aidoko Ali is the party’s candidate for Kogi East.
He appealed to party supporters to rededicate themselves to the ideals of PDP in view of the on going mal-adminitratiom of the APC led government in the last three years.
“Kogi East is lucky to return Senator Aidoko to the red chamber with a ranking status as anything contrary may not augur well for the overall development of the eastern senatorial district and its people.
“With Senator Atai Aidoko back to the 9th Senate, the area should be rest assured of seamless infrastructural breakthrough, sound social and economic empowerment and political emancipation of the people of Kogi East,” the statement read.
The media office urged the people of Kogi East to put issues arising from the PDP primaries behind them and prepare for the task ahead.
“In a keenly contested primaries like that of Kogi East, it is not out of place to have grievances, but the interest of the generality of the people should be the primacy of our agitations.
“Now that primaries are over, we need to sheathe our swords, harness our support and political movement to vote enmasee to return senator Atai Aidoko Ali.
“Senator Aidoko meant well for Kogi East, Kogi state and the entire country and is determined to move the area from the shackles of disintegration and under-development.”
