Let’s get it right. Where a spade is regarded as one. And where morality has its due place in human actions, there are people who should tell us what is right and what is wrong in Kogi state. People who will not trade their conscience for grandiosity regardless of whose ox is gored. Edward Onoja or Dr. Usman Ogbo are not, and cannot befit this category.
Why?
According to the popular adage, it’s inoperable for an elder to refer yam as yam, having been called upon to identify it by its name. Kogi was explicitly in a deplorable state. And the government which Edward Onoja stake-holds was called upon to recuperate. But my up-to-date assessment shows the confluence city is progressively nasty compared to the previous. And without prejudice, the former government is more preferable. Even though looting was in high spree, we still boasted of certain canon in infrastructure, security, health and social welfare of the people.
But what can the current APC government in Kogi boast of apart from the usual media achievements birthed by some electioneering schemes that saw through the construction of a one meter road at the outskirt of Okene, as well as, renovation of Ankpa municipality road?
You see, I have reclined from writing about Edward Onoja and Dr Usman Ogbo though. But the ongoing vituperation against the hard earned integrity of Kogi East Elders Council (KEEC) has murdered my sleep once more.
Edward Onoja and Dr Usman Ogbo’s tirade goes beyond liberal ideology. What stimulates the duo is absolutely on the wrong side of it. It is more of an obsession by the aggrieved roaring for redress.
You might want to ask; what could have radiated the immaterial grievances? The answer is simple. Kogi East Elders should have endorsed Yahaya Bello/Buhari APC-led government. They are on pitch deceiving the susceptible Kogi Easterners into believing that KEEC represents the interest of the opposition party and not that of the generality. They have raised fallacious questions to that effect.
Invariably, the impotent enabling self-driven interest is capable of lightening the already fragile polity if not curbed. Therefore, my emphasis are on certain facts that Onoja pre-emptively boycotted in his write up.
He alleged Kogi East elders patronized the interest of the opposition party, PDP. How? Where and when? If actually KEEC are out for the interest of the opposition, the endorsement spree that trailed Dr. Victor Adoji’s (ADC) senatorial mandate would have favored the incumbent senator Attai Aidoko. As a matter of fact, this is a grand display of hypocrisy.
Edward would have been fair enough to mention DCP. Aurelius Yusuf Adejo who was said to have endorsed the governor’s anointed candidate for the senatorial seat. Or is he not a council member?
You see, the self-acclaimed supremacy of the ruling party is simply overbearing. They have continually murdered democracy with words and action. If it’s not APC, it mustn’t be anyone else. Says who? Anyone who refuses to submit to their evil machinations is stared as anti-democrat. Whereas, they are the real agent of vices and political mischief whose calculations is imminently plunging Kogi state abyss.
Without mincing words, Edward may be very lucky to have held sway in the sensitive areas of governance. But people like us would not see him as hero. In fact, the last time my children and I watched him and his cohorts on a national TV, I warned them sternly not to regard him as hero because he is not. At best, they are the dangerous standard-settings pushed through with ferocious propaganda on a scale never thought possible by crooked and loudmouth pretenders, whose progressive claim has become a facile stereotype.
For posterity sake, what some Kogites don’t know is that Edward Onoja is the deputy governor of Kogi state. And what Kogi East has as the slot (deputy governor) is ceremonial. Moreover, it might looked pertinacious to say that the majority are part and parcel of this government. In fact, I have heard APC Kogi’s e-kids saying the major appointees in the administration are from the majority. But on the contrary, it’s Edward Onoja, his family and cronies. So venting the astuteness of Kogi East Elders council was because they have refused to see things his own way.
In a nutshell, Onoja’s altercation against KEEC is an impunity taken too far. Hence, he should tender a much franked apology to our elders within the next 48 hours.
At this critical time, the wisdom of the elders remain the best resorts. Our elders have incontrovertibly lent theirs’. And instead of applauding them for that, Onoja saw it as avenue to call them names.
Why? Must it be Buhari/Bello or APC after four tumultuous years?
This is what he (Edward) seems ignorant of, the place of morality is still intact. If not in everyone. Certainly in Kogi East Elders. So no amount of intimidation would compel them to compromise. Even if they have, Edward and Ogbo should recline in their scabbard. Let us be the judge of that.
All hails the king, election has been postponed for six days. And guess what? It would be another six days of deepening election frauds and gang raping of our hard earned democracy by the ruling party. It’s another six days of unleashing terror and violence on oppositions and their supporters in Kogi state.
For record purposes, this election will be historical for its indepth rigging. Kogi should least expect anything free and fair because, the fraudsters are on course. As a matter of reality, fresh aspirants can only do their best and pray. No one should be certain about victory yet. Even though voting Buhari/Yahaya Bello/APC will be a re-occurring disaster, Fulani herdsmen killing, non-payment of salaries, ASUU strikes, tactical looting and other selfish interests. No one should take their (Buhari/Yahaya Bello/APC) re-election with levity. Because, the democratic rapists, agents of political malpractices and traducers have been strategically employed for it.
Mostly inept, the ruling APC and the direct opposition (PDP) are culprits of 2019 election fraud. Each with its own means and mechanisms. Be that as it may, I still can’t believe a rational human being will support Buhari’s second term bid. Having noted that the occupier of the number one seat, just like that of the deputy governor of Kogi state, is ceremonial. Moreover, did Nigerians think Donald Trump was drunk when he referred to him (Buhari) as dead president?
Has anyone pondered beyond the notion of national embarrassment and realized that there are more to Trump’s statement? Now I know Nigerians are under a spell. Oh yes! It is only in this country that you see the citizens comfortably shifting from one corrupt regime to another. And we derived so much fantasy doing that.
Apparently, our major problems in Nigeria is not the leaders but the handlers. Now, let me quickly admit that what I do not know is whether some of them are under a covenant not to say things the way they are. But what I know is that they are however picked from the slums and perked with crumbs. Hence the sanctity of truth is not in any way their business. Buhari cannot govern Nigeria anymore. Edward Onoja should get it right. Apart from the fact that he has failed in his anti-corruption campaign, Buhari is old and feeble. Even his e-minions cannot deny the fact. His kitchen cabinets has at one point or the other attested to that. It’s just that self-conceits had beclouded our sense of responsibility.
Has Edward Onoja listened to Hassan Ayariga (the founder of APC Ghana) recently? If no, I candidly advised he should search for the video and watch. Instead of re-electing Buhari, his handlers should tell us who intends to rule the over 180 million Nigerians. Because, he has been a ceremonial president since 2015, and that he will continue to be if re-elected. But Nigerians cannot condole a faceless leader anymore.
Besides, under his (Buhari) watch;
– Chronic looters became saints overnight.
– Corrupt public officials were still endorsed for continuity.
– Recovered funds like Ikoyi-gate, Dansukigate were not accounted for.
– State of emergency was almost declared in Kogi amidst several bailout funds, paris club funds, state allocations, loans and internally generated revenues.
– No substantial measures were taken when his son (Yahaya Bello) intentionally invited Fulani terrorists to unleash mayhem on Kogites. Etc.
– The APC campaign mantra in 2015 were left unattended to
– And in 2019, Buhari has no mantra. The occultic 4+4 next level ideology is a conflict-ridden formulae for tearing the country apart.
We shall discuss more about this in few days.
