**Says he is the last man standing in PDP
Senator representing Kogi East, Atai Aidoko Ali has formally declared his intention to seek re-election in 2019.
Aidoko made this known in Okpo, Olamaboro local government area of Kogi state on Sunday during a thank-you tour of Kogi East.
He said the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) became attractive to numerous aspirants after the court verdict that returned him to the Senate after removing the All Progressives Congress (APC) senator from the red chamber.
In the course of the ‘thank-you’ tour, Senator Aidoko met with party leaders, delegates and PDP stakeholders to intimate them of his intention to return to the red chamber in 2019.
According to the senator, PDP became the darling of the generality of the people and most aspirants, not minding how the party got to were it is today, after losing the general elections in 2015.
He accused co-aspirants of scheming to reap from were they did not sow, alleging that their love for PDP is ephemeral.
Aidoko said this same group of people moved to APC in droves and made the PDP to lose the governorship and other elections in 2015 that have placed civil servants in Kogi state in perpetual lack of salary and pension. He said the same set of persons have now returned to the PDP to realise their ambition in the same party they helped to destroy in the last elections.
He justified the disqualification of some aspirants by the PDP screening committee, adding that the party position was genuine and based on their prerequisites and requirements.

“Why won’t they be disqualified over glaring anti-party activities, weekend politics and obvious lack of basic requirements like tax clearance as requested by the constitution of the party?
“Most of these aspirants are still members of the APC or in alliance with other mushroom parties. Some are still working in the civil service or private sector and playing weekend politics, while others are simply not qualified.
“Most of these people agitating to represent you at the Senate have no experience of a councillor and the red chamber requires a ranking and experienced person like me. Therefore, it is my plea that you support me to return to the Senate,” he said.
He appealed to the people of Olamaboro to shun politics of bitterness that had not taken the area away from the current situation of underdevelopment. He urged them to work as a team this time around to ensure his re-election.
“We have the task of getting bulk of votes from Olamaboro, my own local government. When we poll our votes for our own candidate in any elections, it will be easier for me to extend it to the other eight local government areas in the zone.
He called for support to send the “inhuman government of APC at all levels” packing in 2019.
