The National Association of Government General Medical and Dental Practitioners (NAGGMDP), Kogi State Chapter, has expressed deep appreciation to Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo for his visionary leadership and commitment to the welfare of healthcare workers in the state.
In a letter of appreciation jointly signed by the State Chairman, Dr. Olukoya Taiwo, and Secretary, Dr. Idris Ibrahim Nuhu, the association commended the governor for approving and implementing the Special Allowance for medical doctors working under the state government.
According to the association, the move is a landmark achievement that underscores the governor’s passion for strengthening the healthcare system and improving the well-being of citizens.
“This thoughtful intervention will not only curb the JAPA syndrome among medical professionals but also attract and retain skilled doctors to serve diligently within the state’s health institutions,” the statement noted.
The NAGGMDP further applauded the Ododo administration for the prompt payment of salaries and its consistent prioritization of civil servants’ welfare, describing these as “a testament to compassion, administrative discipline, and good governance.”
The association also commended the Honourable Commissioner for Health, Dr. Adams Azeez; the Chief Medical Director, Hospital Management Board, Dr. Olayemi; and the Chairman, House Committee on Health, Hon. Usman Ochidi, for their collaborative roles in achieving this milestone.
“We equally appreciate the heads of affiliates and all behind-the-scene contributors whose efforts, consultations, and sacrifices made this achievement possible,” the letter added.
NAGGMDP emphasized that the gesture would revitalize the state’s healthcare delivery system and restore confidence among medical professionals.
“The association pledges its continued partnership with the Ododo administration in promoting quality, accessible, and sustainable healthcare services for all Kogites,” it stated.
The doctors concluded by thanking the governor for his “responsiveness, compassion, and commitment to the progress and prosperity of Kogi State.”
