Kogi Deputy Speaker Harps on Executive, Legislature Harmony

The need to strengthen harmonious relationship between the executive arm of government and the legislature  has been described as a panacea for reducing friction in governance friction and underdevelopment.

This was disclosed yesterday in lokoja, by the kogi state Deputy Speaker of the state House of Assembly  Hon. Aliyu Akuh during the induction ceremony of trainees of the Speaker Alfa Ahmed Umar’s  skills acquisition programme.

The deputy speaker stated that both the executive and the legisture were both and the same in the business of administering good governance to the people, stressing that they should be considered as partners in progress.

He urged the governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello to foster cordial relationship with the Assembly in order to reduce to the bearest minimum incidence of friction and acrimony.

He assured the governor that all statutory benefits to members of the House will tinkle down to the electorates through constituency projects urged him to consolidate on the gains of mutual harmony that now exist between them.

Akuh noted that the speaker an APC member  has exibited highest sense of responsibility in  appointing  him ,a  PDP member to chair his occassion , disclosing that the legislature under his watch has become one entity .

“I m highly elated when I was told that I was going to chair this occasion. His action goes to show the world that the members of the 6th legislature are working in unison devoid of party lines and that has made us thick.

“Umar has demonstrated that when you are elected into the Assembly , your allegiance has been  shifted from only your constituency to the entire state and you have to work as a team to uplift the state and that is what he has done”, he added.

He urged the beneficiaries to look at the training they have gotten and the working tools provided as a muster seed which has the potentials to improve on the lives and the society , while advising those who have not benefited from the gesture not to despair as tomorrow could be their turn.

In his remarks, the speaker, Hon. Imam described his deputy as a stabiliser whose wealth of experience has put the assembly on a sound footing.

He noted that the training and provision of start up parks for the beneficiaries was a fulfilment of his covenant with God that when in position of responsibility, he will add  value to the people of his constituency

Items worth millions of naira ranging from sewing machines, printers, embroidery machines, computers etc were distributed to the beneficiaries from Lokoja 1 constituency .
