The Kogi State Deputy Governor, Yomi Awoniyi, has described the loyalty of late Mrs Funmilayo Olayinka, the former Deputy Governor of Ekiti State as lessons that should be learnt by subordinates.
Awoniyi made the remarks at the Emmanuel Anglican Church Ado Ekiti at the funeral programme for the Late Deputy Governor.
The Deputy Governor in a statement issued in Lokoja commended her courage for standing solidly by democratic principles in support of the state Governor to ensure he reclaims his mandate.
He described her demise as a sad one but said her legacies as a dogged fighter, a democrat and one who is absolutely loyal to her boss is what she should be remembered for.
Awoniyi said her qualities of honesty,humility and been tenacious in the success of the Ekiti project he noted are worthy of emulation, urged the government and people of Ekiti State, the parents the late Deputy Governor left behind, the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
In his homely at the funeral described, the Ach Bishop Olasebikan Joseph of Ondo Diocese, death as a necessary end, said no one is too big or rich to die.
He urged Nigerians irrespective of position the hold in the society consciously use their good deeds on earth to prepare a place where life is eternal.
The clergy man described heaven as a place that does not have pain, sorrow and agony,urged those still living to work for the cause of a better society as was done by the late Ekiti State Deputy Governor.
He urged Nigerians to stop the wanton killing and destruction of lives and properties, appealed to politicians to play significant role in bringing peace to the nation.
Delivering the speech of President Goodluck Jonathan, Olabolade Kolade Minister for Police Affairs, said the death of the former Deputy Governor has created a vacuum in the nations politics.
The President Described her as a role model for women in the nations politics, urged the family she left behind to gather strength on the sad death.
In his remarks, Governor Fayemi Kayode of Ekiti State thanked those who stood by the state in its moment of grief, said the vacuum created by the death of Mrs Funmilayo Olayinka, will be difficult to fill.
