A Magistrate Court sitting in Lokoja has remanded a middle-aged man, Dan Sokoto Shaibu, for sodomizing his two male biological sons.
The police prosecutor, Barrister G.O. Otowu, told the court presided over by Memunat Abdullai, that according to the First Information Report (FIR), the suspect was accused of indulging in sexual intercourse with his 17 and 11-year-old sons in their house contrary to Section 292 of the Kogi State Administration of Criminal Justice.
The counsel who is also the officer in legal and prosecution, Kogi State Police Command, told the judge that the court has the jurisdiction to hear case, stressing his exparte motion is supported by a 7 paragraphs affidavit and Form 8 which is the request for remand as required by the law.
He added that the application for remand will enable the police carryout thorough investigation.
Earlier, the accused person, Dan Sokoko Shaibu confessed that he committed the crime under the influence of alcohol.
“I was under the influence of an alcoholic drink. I took three bottles of beer on the night the incident happened. I regret my action,” he pleaded.
He also confessed he got married to four wives out which three of them had divorced him and lost one to cold hands of death.
In her ruling trial judge, Mr. Memunat Abdullahi stated that having perused the exparte motion and the affidavit attached granted the application and remanded the accused to the custody of Federal Correctional Centre Koton Karfi for 14 days.
The case was adjourned to September 9th, 2024 for hearing.
