Chief Judge of Kogi, Justice Nasir Ajanah, has advocated cordial working relationship between the Police and the Judiciary to ensure effective prosecution of the fight against crime in the state.
Ajanah who disclosed this when the new Commissioner of Police for Kogi command, Mr Ali Janga, paid him a courtesy visit on Wednesday in Lokoja described the fight against crime as a Herculean Task.
He said that the fight required the cooperation of all stakeholders, adding that there was need for the police and Judiciary to collaborate in the fight against crime in the county.
“We have always had a robust relationship and have always cooperated with the police because we know that the fight against crime is a herculean task.”
The Chief Judge described Janga as a square peg in a square hole and urged him to use his familiarity with Kogi terrain to define his strategies.
Earlier, Janga said that he attached so much importance to the Judiciary, saying that without the Judiciary the police would not function effectively.
He pledged to deploy all resources towards reducing the rate of crime in the state.
Janga said that perpetrators of crimes would be made to face the full wrath of the law through collaboration with the Judiciary and other security agencies in the state.
Newsmen report that Janga once served as Divisional Police Officer (DPO), ‘C’ Division, Lokoja.
He assumed duty in the state on Monday after taking over from Mr Wilson Inalegwu who was deployed to Kogi from Ekiti State in March.
