Determined to fulfill his promise to the 150 trainees undergoing capacity building training on digital economy at the Federal College of Education Okene, the Senator representing Kogi Central Senatorial District, Senator Yakubu Oseni was earlier today at the closing ceremony of the programme.
The lawmaker who had earlier promised that the trainees would not be left without start-up kits after the ten-day training programme handed them kits that contained phone repair equipment, ipads and other items necessary for the commencement of their businesses.
Senator Oseni, while commending the beneficiaries for their dedication and commitment in the course of the programme, reaffirmed that it was better to teach people how to fish than giving them the fish.
The lawmaker who is the chairman, Senate Committee on ICT/Cybercrime reiterated that he would never relent in bringing the desired dividends of democracy to his constituents, adding that the youths/students and women would continue to enjoy similar gesture through his office as much as the available resources permit.
He however charged the beneficiaries to adequately utilize the acquired skills and start-up kits in setting up their businesses in order to become financially independent and as well engage others. Through this, the lawmaker argued that the rate of unemployment would be reduced drastically.
The obviously elated beneficiaries expressed gratitude for being part of the capacity building training, which they described as a humble beginning. A Ten thousand naira token was given to each of the beneficiaries so as to mobilise them back to their respective destinations.
They specifically appreciated Senator Yakubu Oseni for the opportunity to be part of the programme and granting them the start-up kits, noting that his empowerment schemes would have lasting positive impacts on the people.
