Thousands of Kogi Central constituents from the five local government areas gathered at the Itakpe junction in Okehi on Tuesday to protest against the six-month suspension of Senator Natasha Akpoti Uduaghan.

The protesters called for her immediate reinstatement and passed a vote of confidence in her leadership.

The protesters deemed her suspension “illegal and unconstitutional”, emphasising that it doesn’t takeaway her legitimacy as a duly elected senator.

They said they are proud of the dividends of democracy she has brought to the district and praised her quality representation.

Leader of Ebira Youth Congress (EYC), Comrade Ahmed Sakabido, while addressing the crowd, said the purported suspension of Senator Natasha in the National Assembly is an injustice.

“Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere. This fight is a fight to finish. God will be with her in this struggle,” he said.

The constituents stated they have no reason to recall Senator Akpoti Uduaghan, as she has justified their mandate. They viewed her suspension as a disservice to the senatorial district and vowed to continue demanding justice from the Senate leadership.

This development comes after Senator Akpoti Uduaghan protested seat reallocation and accused Senate President Godswill Akpabio of sexual harassment, which led to her suspension for allegedly violating Senate rules.
