To me, this is quite commendable as he has succeeded in making life meaningful for the few numbers employed, there is no better empowerment compared to this, none that am aware of for now. Irrespective of how the 2019 elections turns out, the employed youths will forever be gainfully employed for as long as they remain of good behavior at the job.
In a bid to sell their candidacy to the people and win the support of the masses, many politicians and businessmen have extended their philanthropic gestures to the electorates even though some quarters believe not all are borne out of good intentions. the reason for this sudden change in Kogi state politics is not far fetched, it is as a result of its continuous advancement.
It’s indeed good to know the people are gradually doing away with the stale politics of thuggery to embrace people centered politics. Kogi central politics has become a contest of who outperform who, as the election draws nearer, each contestant is trying by every means within their capacity to exhibit their aptitude for the job ahead even though they’ve not been elected into office yet. this to me is a good development and a sign to show that power is gradually returning to the people. but, one thing that call for concern is the genuity of this philanthropic gestures by politicians, the question begging for answers is, will they sustain this community development services when elected? will they suspend it if they lose the election?
It is pertinent to understand the parameters the electorates use in rating aspiring candidates, one of the parameters they employed in judging the leadership qualities of an aspirant in this part of the world is the numbers of philanthropic projects each aspirants has embarked upon. to me, this shouldn’t be the only yardstick as leadership goes beyond philantropism, there is a probability of a candidate embarking on philanthropic community services just to swindle the voters.
I implore all Kogi Central citizens to look before they leap as the 2019 election draw nearer, not all the philanthropic gestures are borne out of sheer interest for the masses. We must look beyond judging aspirants by number of community services rendered in their name. We must beam our search light into their business and political antecedent to see how they have fared in their immediate community. Hopefully we will get it right this time
