The Deputy Governor of Kogi State, Comrade Joel Salifu, has congratulated the member-elect for Okura State Constituency in the Saturday House of Assembly by-election, Hassan Sado, describing the victory as “a reflection of the people’s perception of the current administration”
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had earlier declared Hassan Sado, candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), winner of Saturday’s bye-election for the Okura State Constituency in Kogi state.
Announcing the results at the Egume Collation Centre, the Returning Officer, Professor Emmanuel Enenche Onome, disclosed that the APC candidate polled a total of 55,073 votes, while the candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) scored 1,038 and 445 votes respectively.
Speaking while receiving the House of Assembly member-elect, alongside leaders of the APC in Dekina local government area at his Ejule residence on Sunday, the Deputy Governor stated that the government has laid a solid foundation for the party to win in all contests, appreciating his principal, Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo for putting the party in advantageous position through his people-centered policies and projects across the three senatorial districts of the state.
Comrade Joel Salifu noted that the victory is a result of teamwork of the leaders and party faithful across the Dekina local government area, calling for more unity for the success of the APC in future elections.

He noted that the result of the poll is an indication that the party will cruise to victory in 2027 elections. The Deputy Governor urged the member-elect to be responsive to the plights of his constituents and carry out all his Legislative functions effectively.

While commending the State Auditor General, Alhaji Yakubu Okala, for his active leadership role in delivering the party’s candidate.
Earlier in his remarks, Hon. John Urah Ikani, Executive Chairman of Dekina Local Government Area, said that they had visited to express their appreciation for the Deputy Governor’s support and leading from the front to make sure that the victory is brought home in the Saturday election in Okura State constituency.
On his part, the Kogi East Acting Zonal Vice-Chairman of the APC, Hon. Ogwu Abdul Alhasan, said that the party finds it easy to win the election because of prompt payment of salaries and many development projects by the Government of Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, expressing appreciation to the present administration and stakeholders of the party.
The Director General of Hassan Sado’s Campaign Organization, Prince Ishaq Shaibu Okolo, commended the Deputy Governor for his hands-on approach to the campaign, saying that his active participation and involvement were instrumental in the APC’s victory. He appreciated the Deputy Governor for leading from the front, rather than just issuing directives, which gave the party a significant advantage in the election.
The House of Assembly member-elect, Hon. Hassan Sado, affirmed that the Deputy Governor has shown humility like his principal, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, by leading the party in winning the election. He pledged his unalloyed loyalty and dedication to the success of the present administration.
