The President of Khalif Cares Foundation and prolific entrepreneur, Khalifa Abdulrahaman Okene has celebrated the people of Kogi State on the 32nd creation anniversary of the state.

Khalifa Okene, in a statement on Sunday, congratulated Governor Yahaya Bello and all the statesmen for their contributions to the growth and development of the state.

He noted that every step of progress is a step forward, and an assurance of passion towards the realization of the Kogi dream.

He urged the people to be committed to their civic responsibilities whilst they hold the government to their promises.

“I am using this opportunity to remind us that, for our state to get to where we all envisage, the job is not for the government alone. As citizens, we all have commitments in the form of civic responsibilities to keep the balance of progress.

“In fact, holding the government to do their bid is one of them, but what about serving the state in our own might by doing our  bid, and making it better from the comfort of our homes and neighbourhood” he said.

He called for peace as campaigns begin for the November 11th governorship election in the state, urging political parties and their candidates to direct their supporters on paths devoid of division and rancour.

“We have entered into the electioneering period, as campaigns have commenced in earnest. The essence of a peaceful process through to the election cannot be overemphasized. Therefore, I call on all the political parties and their candidates to be wary of the contents they dish out to the public. Let’s say no to hate and divisive campaigns, Okene stated.

He also appreciated the security agencies for their roles in the level of peace enjoyed in the state, urging them to sustain their efforts.
