Kogi Assures Workers of Better Days Ahead

Workers and people of Kogi State have been assured of better times in their welfare and improvement in their well-being.

Kogi State Deputy Governor, Yomi Awoniyi made the disclosure on government plans, programs and policies, while on a consultative visit to Odo Eri, Yagba West LGA.

Awoniyi disclosed that the state government intends to use its expected N10billion bail out from the federal government to offset salaries owed workers and improve the well being of its citizens in other critical sectors.

The Deputy Governor said the money being expected in the next few days, would be committed judiciously to clearing backlog of salary arrears, and commended PDP members from the area for their support to the administration of Capt Idris Wada.

The Deputy Governor disclosed that machinery has been put in place to look into issues affecting dropped Local Government Workers employed in 2010 across the state, called for unity of purpose by members of the PDP ahead the forth coming governorship election.

Awoniyi described Capt Wada as one who believes in power rotation, as clamored for by section of the state, commended the support of Yagba West PDP to the success of the last state congress.

The Deputy Governor, described Capt Wada as a magician, whose prudence and accountability has enabled him steer the course of the administration, assured that with the expected N2billion loan to be assessed from a commercial, Egbe, Mopa and Iyara township roads.

Awoniyi assured that the administration of Capt Wada is not resting on its oars, but is in constant touch with the federal government on the need to complete the on going Kabba Egbe Ilorin road.

Awoniyi called on the PDP in Yagba West to better organize itself, forget selfish interest and work for the common good of the area in the forth coming governorship election.

In their remarks, Tayo Aremu, Commissioner for Environment, Hon Korede Alabi, SSA1, Yagba West LGA and Ayo Alabi, PDP Chairman Yagba West LGA, expressed the resolve of the members to the aspiration of Capt Wada and the PDP.

The various speakers at the meeting appealed to the state government to come to the aid of the people in the areas of infrastructure, and youth empowerment, assured of their commitment to the success of the party in the forth coming governorship election.
