The Chief Press Secretary to the Speaker of Kogi State House of Assembly, Yabagi Mohammed has congratulated the Vice Chancellor and management of Prince Abubakar Audu University, Anyigba for the successful unbundling of Mass Communication in the institution.
Speaking in an interview with our reporter in Lokoja, Yabagi, who is an alumnus of the university, said the unbundling has demonstrated the commitment of the institution to be a University of choice to future media professionals within and outside the country.
According to the CPS, many other universities in the country are still grappling with the modalities of the unbundling policy by the National Universities Commission, a thing that has been easily implemented by the Prince Abubakar Audu University.
To him, the seeming ease was possible because even before his days as a student, the Department of Mass Communication he graduated from had all the requirements that compare to any other institution in the country.
Unlike many institutions, he said a working public relations and advertising, and a standard television and production studios that could rival any other institution in the country had already existed.
“Students also had the opportunity to have radio station experience with the operation of the institution’s Campus Radio, the Fusion FM, and a world-class publisher where print materials such as Newspapers, Magazines and others are being published,” he said.

“In addition to all these, we had lecturers that were committed to impacting the students positively, pouring a lot of knowledge on their trainees. So I am not surprised they had what seemed like an easy sail during the accreditation,” he added.
While further applauding the present Kogi State government under the leadership of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo for providing the institution with the necessary resources to standardize programmes on offer in the institution as the first university in the state, he recognized the efforts of the Vice Chancellor, Professor Marietu Tenuche to the continued development of the school.
