- Appeals for more efforts to ensure victory for APC in November
The Speaker of Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Aliyu Umar Yusuf has on Saturday, received the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ward ‘E’, Lokoja Local Government Area, on a solidarity and congratulatory visit.
This was contained in a press statement signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the Speaker, Yabagi Mohammed, a copy of which was made available to newsmen.
Eggheads of the party in the Ward, including Hon Baba Yakamata, Hajiya Marka, Hon Idris Lokoja, among others, led the group on the visit.
The Speaker expressed gratitude to them, mentioning each person by their names and noting that they were all people he knew and respected, even as he enjoined them to continue to ensure unity and love among party faithful.
The Speaker informed them that the contract for the reconstruction of the Kabawa-Unguwan-Kura Road project has already been awarded by the current administration as part of Township Road project within Lokoja metropolis, noting that the repairs, which is in phases, will soon get to the area.
He promised to continue to support the area in ensuring adequate security for Kabawa Community, stressing that he is not unaware of the security challenges faced in recent past in the community.
Rt Hon Yusuf, who promised to come up with avenues towards improving the extension of dividends of democracy to the area, noted that the number of people he has appointed so far shows his determination to touch lives across the Local Government Area and the state in general.
He, however, charged them on the need to ensure convincing victory for the APC in the November 11 gubernatorial election in the state to further justify the trust the party has in them.
In their separate remarks, leader of the delegation and APC chieftain in Ward, Hon Baba Yakamata congratulated the Speaker and applauded him for his remarkable achievement so far with his short period in the saddle.
While promising to continue to give their absolute best to the party and the administration of Governor Yahaya Bello, they promised to ensure overwhelming victory for the party in the November election.
Other leaders used the occasion to speak in the same line, and thanked members of the assembly for their confidence in the ability of the Speaker to pilot the affairs of Kogi State legislature.
