Kogi Assembly Recalls Suspended Lawmakers, Confirms Justice Majebi as Substantive Chief Judge

Kogi State House of Assembly on Tuesday recalled three suspended lawmakers.

This followed the consideration of the report of the House Committee on Ethics which indicated that the three members regretted their actions.

The Deputy Speaker, Alfa Rabiu thereafter moved a motion that the former Principal Officers be forgiven having felt remorse for their actions.

Recall that former Deputy Speaker, Ahmed Mohammed, Majority Leader, Abdullahi Bello and Chief Whip, Moses Ododo were impeached and suspended over allegations of gross misconduct, while Deputy Major Leader, Ndako Idris, was impeached.

The House also confirmed Justice Josaih Joe Majebi as the substantive Chief Judge of the State.

This followed the letter by the State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello following his nomination by the National Judicial Council.

Chairman of the House Committee on Judiciary, Cosmos Atabor had moved a motion for the new Chief Judge to take a bow and leave in view of track record of impeccable character.

According to him, the Chief Judge had introduced several measures that have checked corruption in the Judicial arm of government.

The Speaker, Prince Matthew Kolawole congratulated the Chief Judge on his confirmation and urged j to justify the confidence reposed in him.
