The newly elected majority leader of Kogi State House of Assembly, Honourable Aliyu Akuh has called on the former Speaker, Honourable Abdullahi Bello and his principal officers to return to fold in the spirit of sportsmanship.
He said as a reputable and responsible House, the former leadership should accept the decision of members that brought the change, noting that their non-participation in the activities of the House will not be in the interest of electorates who voted them.
According to him, the progressive members of the House took a bold step to change the leadership after due adherence to House rules and the constitution without prejudice, stressed that changing leadership of the House was a legislative tradition.
The lawmaker noted that in the game of politics one may not expect to win always advised them to put the incidence behind them so as to move the House forward.
According to him “As legislators the interest of the people should overrides our personal interest, I encouraged our members to consider the overall interest of the state. I urged them not to wash their linen in the market place” he advised.
