The group appealed to APC National Executive Council, NEC, to prevail on the party leader in state, Prince Abubakar Audu and former House of Representatives member, Dino Melaye, not to destroy the foundation of the party and the interest of its members in the state.
This appeal came on the heel of a purported stakeholders’ meeting held at Prince Audu’s House in Lokoja on Sunday, where some members were allegedly handpicked to attend the meeting and mooted the idea of consensus against primary election.
Alleging that consensus candidacy will lead to crisis within the party and may lead to its extinction in Kogi State, the group said that as long as Audu and Melaye remain aspirants, they have no right to foist consensus arrangement on the party.
National Mirror investigation revealed that over 145 aspirants have already obtained intent and nomination forms for state and National Assemblies seats from the three senatorial districts of the state.
It was gathered the aspirants are waiting for the party primaries and any attempt to adopt consensus will not augur well for the party.

They argued that it will be difficult to tell the aspirants who have paid N500,000 for intent and nomination form to go away like that, adding: “This is against the backdrop of laid down rules and regulations of the party from the national headquarters. Those who have obtained intent and nomination form must be allowed to participate in APC primaries in the state.”
