The Kogi Agricultural Development Project (ADP) says it has concluded plans to organise the “Cassava City Day’’ programme, which is aimed at exploring the opportunities and prospects of cassava production.
The Managing Director of the ADP, Mr Oyisi Okatahi, said this via a statement in Lokoja on Wednesday.
He said that the programme, which had “Exploring the Treasures of Cassava Crop’’ as its theme, would be organised in collaboration with the Kogi Ministry of Agriculture.
According to him, the programme will expose the participants to ways of exploring the opportunities in cassava farming, processing, storage and marketing.
Okatahi said that it would also educate the participants on cassava project financing, packaging, technology, sales, marketing and its entire value chain.
“The programme will hold on Thursday, Nov. 15, 2018, at the Indoor Sports Hall, Confluence Stadium, Zone 8, Lokoja.
“The side attraction of the event includes a cultural music competition involving the Igala, Ebira, Okun, Bassa, Nupe, Ogori-Magongo, Gwari, Kakanda, Oworo, Idoma and Eggan ethnic groups,’’he said.
He, therefore, urged interested members of the public to visit the official website of Kogi ADP  — kogiadp.com/cassava-city — or the head office or zonal offices of the ADP for further details on the programme.
The 12, 500-hectare cassava farm city is located at Osara in Adavi Local Government Area of Kogi,
The farm incorporates the entire value chain of cassava, including farmers, agro-chemicals and equipment dealers, extension agents and crop processors, among others.
