The group said,  the elders would forever earn respect for being audacious and brave in the face of intimidation and for defying threats to their lives from government quarters in this trying times.

It noted that the due process was followed in the choice of Dr. Victor Alewo Adoji, out of five screened candidates with two absentees who considered themselves too important to appear before the Committee,  adding that the decision of the Council of Elders would usher a new era in Kogi East political firmament.

“We have been monitoring discussions as regards to the choice of candidates for Kogi East. Particularly, we have been praying for our Elders to get things right this time and here we are, the choice of Dr. Victor of ADC is a beginning of new era.

“This is not the time for the Council of Elders to sit supine watching things to go wrong.  We, commend their foresight,  the painstaking in following due process”,  the group noted.

“We know there have been intimidation here and there coming from government quarters and against these odds,  they have taken their stand in the interest of Igala and Bassa. May God bless them.”

The group cautioned the Council of Elders to be wary of those playing the second fiddle,  stating that they will disguise as if they have genuine intention for Igala/Bassa land,  but were agents of those who are hell bent on destroying the eastern Senatorial flank.

They further cautioned the Elders not to listen to those, the group described as political contractors, who would fake political groups to put pressure on them in order to change their stand.

According to them,  there was no need for those who are indisposed to the development to make the storm out of the tea cup,  but  working together with the group towards the success of Dr. Victor Alewo Adoji  in 2019.
