Kogi; A State on The Verge of Doom

Let me begin by saying that recently I abruptly refuse to speak on leadership issues, political decisions, affiliations, stakes, concerns and interest in Kogi state and Nigeria at large because at some point the ignoring of my suggestions and strong objections became a beast taking wild sinister inside of me (I will not even bother my readers by talking about the threat that accompanied the strong positions I have always had in my agitations).

That not withstanding, at a time like this when the foundation of our state is being threatened and shaken helplessly, I consider it a betrayal if I still remain silent and not react in the only way I see it fit to purge my self of this accumulated disappointments and madness that characterise the leadership and the present nature of politicking in Kogi state.

I painfully went through Natasha Akpoti’s submission when the house of her supporters were raided some days back and one Enesi was brutally murdered, but I noticed that we in Kogi East never said any thing, no body showed any solidarity, rather we all kept silent and acted like it was all fine.

Some days later there was a press release from the PDP spokesperson Austin Usman Okai on the likely bloodbath in Kogi state in the forth coming elections, yet we all went through the publications and ignore the cogent issues raised in every single line that makes up the press release.

And before we could prepare for the unexpected, our fears surfaced in Ejulé yesterday where a brutal attack was unleashed at the venue of a stipulated  ADC senatorial aspirant and supporters meeting.

And the whole attack was crowned with the vandalization of several properties belonging to the supporters of the ADC senatorial candidate, especially that of Omachi Isaac Akor whose vandalized car could be seen in the pictures below.

In as much as all well meaning Kogites are worried by this occurrence, we dare not to point fingers at any body, but I will not refuse to state without fear that with the look of things, with the manner in which this whole electoral process is playing out it is obvious that such attacks and man hunting are just beginning, it is clear that Kogi state is seated on life bomb which is about to explode.

Let us not pretend to the fact that there is a problem in Kogi state and that problem is the desperate effort to either take power or retain power by all means, and until we find a way to cub out this already heightened tension before the elections, then we are on the verge of doom!

It is so disheartening that at a time like this when we should be paving way for an issue based politics, when we should be accommodating healthy politics that could assuage the pending problems that we have been confronted over the years we are strongly playing host to politics of hate, destruction, malice, mediocre, physical confrontation, man hunting and bloodbath.

To even worsen it all, it has become us against us – and when a people turn so badly against each other such people are already doomed!

However, our blames are still on the APC led government in Kogi state who are presently in power and solely responsible for the security of lives and properties – to by all means bring the perpetrators of this heinous crime to book or we will not refuse the temptation of accusing them of sponsoring the perpetrators of this crime and any other crimes that follows.

If the APC which is the present government in power in the state does not comb the entire state to bring the perpetrators of this crime to book we will accept that the party’s government in the state is incompetent to provide security for the state in the forth coming elections.

We will not deviate or refuse in any way refuse to accuse the APC led government of unconstitutionally sabotaging the efforts of all the opposition party in the state.

Further more we will be fast to acknowledge that the Kogi APC led government has embraced a sort of Man hunting kind of politics rather than an issue based politics which is the only kind of politics permitted in a democratic dispensation.

We will be quick to accuse them of approaching the Kogi elections with a do or die attitude, therefore they should be blame for what ever happens to the people of the state in the forth coming elections.

Clearly, we will accuse the Kogi APC of taking political actions that threatens the Kogi democracy, the peace of the state, the fundamental Human Rights of its citizens and the electoral acts of the Nigerian nation.

If the perpetrators of this crime are not brought to book we will also agree that the Kogi APC led government is in full support of thuggery, use of arms and the disruption of political serenity in the state.

And most of all we will perceive it to be a complete warning to us the masses and those in the opposition that there will be a heavy bloodbath in the forth coming elections in Kogi East, that the APC led government will not in any way guarantee the safety of the voters, that the poling units will be lither with guns and machetes, that thugs will be used to vandalize the properties of who ever does not support the APC or is in any way in the opposition camp, that our votes are likely not to count, that the election is indeed a do or die exercise.

So it’s either the APC led government in Kogi state provides the perpetrators of this crime or accept all of the above.

I will submit by saying that, despite not being a politician my personal fears are what will happen at the poling units in Kogi state come February, I just hope it will not be a bloodbath as already prophesied.

My condolences are with late Enesi and my prayers are with Omachi Isaac Achor whose car and property were heavily vandalized.
