A political pressure group under the auspice of Emewe Opada Elite Forum (EOEF), Abuja branch has expressed its readiness to support former Kogi State governor, Prince Abubakar Audu to return as governor in the 2015 governorship election in the state.
The group in a statement signed by the president, Mr. Akpai Echu said they would mobilise support for Audu to return to Lugard House as governor, noting that their support for Audu is to halt the political drift in the state and restore the hope of the people in true democracy and good governance.
He lamented the inability of successive administrations in the state to preserve the legacies left behind by the former governor, Prince Abubakar Audu not to talk of building on them.
According to Echu, “Since Audu left in 2003, no leader has been able to match his profile in terms of development, the state cannot afford to continue to elect leaders that lack the capacity to provide the much needed dividends of democracy in the state”.
“We urge all politicians in Kogi state to put aside their differences and present Audu as the governor in the forth coming election in the state because he is the only competent candidate to wrest power from the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state”.
“It is in good faith and with a hand of friendship that we call stakeholders in Kogi state to bless the candidature of Prince Abubakar Audu so as to allow him finish the good work he started when he held sway as governor from 1999 to 2003”.
“It is a fact that only a government led by Abubakar can bring about the kind of transformation that the people of Kogi State earnestly desire,” Echu said.
Echu further advised that the party should be weary of these PDP agents who are now calling themselves Kogi APC Elders Forum, as majority of them joined the party on the eve of the election and are now tarnishing the image of the state leader, Prince Abubakar Audu with a view to carrying out the script of their paymasters.
