The long-awaited Kogi State 2012 Federation Cup competition finally commenced on 17th April, 2012.
Kogi State FA Cup defending champions, Lokoja Football Club who edged out Dekina Dragons FC 1:0 in the finals of the 2011 edition will be aiming to defend their title after been pitched in Ankpa Zone and will be facing stiff competition in the Ankpa zone, with the presence of 36 Lion Football Club currently playing in the Nigeria National League.
Less than a week to go into the start of the 2012 Kogi State FA Cup tournament which is expected to feature 11 registered clubs will be battling it out for the yearly organised state FA trophy.
According to the fixtures released the registered clubs are Lokoja FC, Success International FC, Idah United FC, Kogi United FC, Akparfa Rock FC and Igalamela FC.
Others are Kabba FC, 36 Lion FC, Ankpa Leopards FC, Tao United FC, Adavi United FC.
A statement released by the Kogi State FA and signed by the State FA Secretary, Shuiabu Ibrahim, confirms the annual tournament will kick-starts in two zones namely Ankpa and Kabba from 17th April 2012 while the semi-finals and final will be played in Lokoja.
Noticeably in the Preliminaries, Lokoja FC, 36 Lion FC and kogi United will not be involved in the early start of the competition.
Meanwhile, the State FA has revealed that all pre-match meeting is mandatory on every day of the match by 12:00noon at the match venue.
