A pressure group, Lokoja/Koto for Good Governance has warned the leadership of All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kogi state led by Governor Yahaya Bello on the danger of denying the constituency the speakership of 7th Assembly.
In a press statement signed by the Chairman of the group, Hon. Isah Abdullahi and made available to newsmen in Lokoja on Saturday, the group warned that any attempt to deny Lokoja/Koto federal constituency the speaker position will spell doom to the party.
Part of the statement read; “we are not against our brothers from the other constituencies, what we demand is that justice must be done because any attempt to deny us the speakership position will force us to revolt against the party come 16th November 2019 governorship election.
“Recall that during the last elections, we delivered to the APC. The people of Lokoja and Kogi Local Government Areas need to be rewarded for their loyalty to the party and it leadership. If the party fail to respond to our demand they should forget November 16 Governorship election. We cannot continue to be subservient to others while we have the highest number of votes.
“Presently, out of the seven local government areas in Kogi West senatorial district, only Lokoja and Kogi local government areas are left behind in term of political appointments.
“The Okuns presently hold both Speaker, Commissioners of Finance and Agriculture as well as the Secretary to the State Government positions while Lokoja and Kogi Local Government Areas, that delivered for APC in all elections, is been neglected.”
