The State Government once again inaugurated today a 32- man committee for the 3rd or probably the 4th rounds of screening which started since February 2016.
The exercise is aptly described as ‘kalo kalo’ in action in our dear Kogi state. Indeed it is kalo kalo part 3 loading……!
The committee is dead on arrival. With almost or about 50% names from the previous committee reappearing in this new one, amount to old wine in new bottle.
What is the offense of the state owned tertiary institutions to this administration? It is lack of due regard for this category of ‘elite’ staff in the state that made the first committee to have embarrassingly recommends retirement for PROFESSORS and CHIEF LECTURERS in the university, Colleges of Education and the likes respectively for “stagnation”. I wonder what rank(s) the committee intends to recommend for the academic cadre that is beyond Professor and Chief Lecturer in the University and the Colleges of Education/Polytechnics respectively.
Again, the new 32 – man committee was constituted without credible representatives from these autonomous and technically inclined institutions? No doubt that the avoidable mistakes engineered by arrogance and the ‘know-all’ syndrome, is bound to repeat. Anything short of reconstituting the COUNCIL of these institutions without further delay will amount to chasing shadow.
Let it be known that the result of what this government has expended and is still expending huge amount of resources in the name of screening and re-screening is directly under their feet. Let them remove the power intoxicant by lifting the right foot up.
God bless Kogi state!!!
