Ahead of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) primaries for House of Representatives in Kabba-Bunu/Ijumu Federal constituency, the Ijumu Arin chapter of the party have decided to prune the number of aspirants from the axis by organizing a shadow primaries.
Popularity was tested at the just concluded Ijumu- Arin PDP shadow primary at Iyamoye town for House of Representative between Prince Ojumoro, Hon. J.J. Orugun, Hon. Segun Ojo and Hon. Omolade Ibikunle.
Accreditation for 44 electorates eligible to vote started by 10:00am and ended by 10:25am while voting started 10:29am.
Political intrigues, fears, agitation and voting drama unfolded with silent whispering among the crowed observers and exchange of pleasantries and cracking of jokes between the aspirants as the electorates were casting their votes to decide the most popular candidate to contend with all aspirants from Kabba/bunu Local government.
The four aspirants displayed commendable spirit of sportsmanship.
As at 11:01am when the voting was about end with six electorates yet to cast their votes all eyes was on the secret ballot box as the votes ended as at 11:09am.
Votes were counted and result announced:
Hon. Prince Ojumoro – four votes,
Hon.J.J Orugun – 8 votes,
Hon. Segun Ojo – 9 votes
Hon. Omolade Ibikunle – 21 votes.
Omolade Ibikunle was declared as the winner and the most popular who secured 21 votes.
The three aspirants demonstrated good sense of belonging, leadership and spirit of sportsmanship by congratulating the winner and promise to work together for the growth of Ijumu as a whole, that the party is bigger than any individual.
Hon.Omolade Ibikunle the winner thanked all aspirants with assurance to work with them, also he appreciated every one and God Almighty for making today a reality.
