Following the recent wave of violence that struck the communities of Suku, Osomule, and Ofere in Kabba/Bunu Local Government Area—resulting in the killing of an innocent citizen and the kidnapping of several others, Mr. Nayo Jude Babatunde, the Senior Special Assistant on Information, Communications & Strategy to the Executive Chairman, has addressed the press, calling for urgent and genuine local efforts to complement government action.

In a statement issued on Thursday, Mr. Nayo condemned the heinous acts that have caused widespread fear and disruption in the affected communities. He expressed deep condolences to the families of the victims and reaffirmed the commitment of the Executive Chairman, Barr. Zacchaeus Dare and the entire Kabba/Bunu Local Government leadership to restoring peace and security across the area.

“These attacks are not only cowardly but also a direct affront to the peace and stability we have worked hard to maintain in Kabba/Bunu.

“While government security agencies are responding swiftly and decisively, we must acknowledge that community involvement is a critical pillar in this fight,” Mr. Nayo stated.

He stressed that the government alone cannot fully address the complex nature of modern security challenges without active local intelligence and collaboration. According to him, no amount of military or police presence can substitute for the role of informed, vigilant, and engaged communities.

“Our people must rise to the occasion by embracing community-based intelligence gathering and timely information sharing. We must go beyond simply mourning after attacks—now is the time to be proactive.

Everyone has a role to play,” he emphasized.
Mr. Nayo called on traditional rulers, community leaders, youth groups, and civil society organizations to form stronger alliances with local security outfits and vigilante groups.

He also encouraged residents to report suspicious activities promptly to the nearest security authorities or through designated local intelligence channels.

While assuring the public of ongoing efforts by the Executive Chairman to escalate the situation to state and federal levels for a more robust security response, Mr. Nayo disclosed that community security forums and information synergy platforms would be strengthened in the coming weeks.

“We are working closely with security operatives to increase surveillance and expand patrols, but we must all understand that security begins with us. It is only through genuine collaboration and information sharing that we can put an end to these cowardly attacks,” he added.

The SSA urged residents not to allow fear to paralyze them but to unite more than ever, noting that history has shown the resilience of Kabba/Bunu people in the face of adversity.

As the local government continues to coordinate with security forces, Mr. Nayo assured the public that justice will be pursued for those affected, and that every effort will be made to prevent a recurrence.
“Peace is our collective responsibility, and together, we will overcome,” he concluded.

Residents are encouraged to report any suspicious activity to the local security lines or community leaders. Together, Kabba/Bunu will stand strong.
