In ideal political society, primary election is a process in which party elect someone who often fly the flag of the party in any general election but reverse was the case in the case of the Peoples Democratic Party, Kabba-Bunu/ Ijumu Federal Constituency this week as the incumbent member who is representing Kabba-Bunu/Ijumu Federal Constituency in the Federal House of Representatives, Hon. Tajudeen Ayo Yusuf decided to denied our party faithfuls that opportunity because of his selfish ambition after jettisoned his initial senatorial ambition when he knew that he cannot compete with Senator Daniel Dino Melaye hence he decided to hold our people to ransom.
The said primary election was scheduled to hold on the 3rd of October, 2018 in Kabba. Our people were there to exercise their right by voting for the candidate of their choice but there was no officer from the party to conduct the exercise on that very day. But information later revealed that the man in question with the support of his brother in Abuja caged them and denied our people their fundamental right.
Hon. Tajudeen Ayo Yusuf came to Kabba in the midnight with the party officials (Electoral Committee Members) with the aim of conducting a kangaroo primary election but the good people of Kabba-Bunu / Ijumu Federal Constituency stood against him, he failed on that mission and left Kabba for Lokoja immediately.
On the 4th of October, 2018, prospective delegates converged in Kabba again with the hope that the said election will take place so that they can elect the candidate with the spirit of development who will fly the flag of our great party but no progress throughout the day as our people were left stranded in Kabba throughout that day.
On a way forward, other aspirants contesting for the said position under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in Kabba-Bunu/Ijumu Federal Constituency, Kogi State including Arch. Salman Idris, S.O Adeleye, Okesuji Obatoyinbo, Segun Ojo, Omolade Ibikunle, Yomi Bello, Taiwo Nathaniel, Abayomi Bello, and Seyi Bello went to Lokoja to jointly lodged their complains before the Peoples Democratic Party Appeal Committee for Kogi State. In order to promote and respect rule of law, and constitution of our party, the committee agreed to conduct primary election in our constituency today, the 6th of October, 2018 since no primary election before now but information reaching us has it that Hon. Tajudeen Ayo Yusuf is doing everything possible to stop the move because of his selfish ambition.
On a serious note, this is a course that we will fight to a standstill. Power belong to the people and not the power-that-be. As a matter of fact, Hon. Kola Ologbondiyan, National Publicity Secretary of our party, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP should tell us his stand on this very issue. We want to know. Prince Uche Secondus should also know that he cannot determine who will represent us. Never.
