Barely after 24 hours after the Kogi State All Progressives Congress (APC) held it’s Stakeholders meeting at the Glass House, Lokoja in view of the forthcoming Local Government election slated for 19th October, 2024, no less than 10 LG “Stakeholders” have resorted to undemocratic “endorsement” of the incumbent CTC’s.
As concerned party loyalists and committed members, we demand to know if these “concocted & highly doctored endorsements” was actually the directive of our amiable Governor Usman Ododo and the party apparatchiks.
If the response is no, we thought it imperative that the leadership should direct the immediate end to the undemocratic process.
We make bold to say that this negates the true essence of inclusivity, level playing field and tenets of democracy of fairness, justice and probity.
If affirmative, we strongly advise that the leadership should have an urgent rethink.
Since the inception of Governor Ododo Ahmed Usman, he has been making honest decisions and mind – blowing transparency. It is for the greater goods of party faithfuls if he doesn’t derail from this trajectory.
For a fact, when KOSIEC rolled- out it’s template for the LG election, Kogites and interested parties were genuinely appreciative and expectant of a credible process.
They perceived it was a new dawn!
But to our utmost dismay, the less than 24 hours endorsement of some Caretaker Chairmen by some erratic party members has been nothing but subjective, insultive and questionable.
Our dear Governor, is this your own body language? Or, some people are hell-bent on changing the goalpost in the middle of the game?
For the records, our party and Constituents deserve credible, humane and people- centred governance at the grassroot.
Any attempt for some few party elites to impose non- performers, ill – cultured and less than mediocre CTC’s will spell doom (God forbid) for the political fortune of our dear party, envisaging if the National Electoral Commission would eventually conduct future elections.
To all concerned parties, this is neither a threat but a promise by the electorates who are desirous of electing their choice aspirants if the opportunity avail itself.
This is our sincere plea and anticipating your positive and prompt action.
