#JusticeForAyo: EACDA Calls for Thorough Investigation Into Murder of Photojournalist

The National President of Ekinrin-Adde Community Development Association (EACDA), Elder Deinde Toyin Komolafe, has called for a thorough investigation into the tragic killing of Kogi born photojournalist, Ayo Aiyepeku, who was allegedly murdered by a correctional service officer, Pelumi Adebayo.

Elder Deinde Komolafe made this call during a condolence visit to the family of the deceased in Lokoja, the Kogi State capital, on Thursday.

The sad incident, which sparked outrage on social media on Wednesday, involved the brutal killing of Ayo Aiyepeku allegedly by Pelumi Adebayo, both indigenes of Ekinrin-Adde Community. Shockingly, the suspect reportedly took his own life a day after the incident.

In a swift and responsive move, the EACDA President visited the bereaved family to sympathize with them and to personally verify the Ekinrin-Adde ancestry of both the victim and the alleged assailant.

Elder Komolafe was accompanied on the visit by the Kogi State Commissioner for Innovation, Science and Technology, Dr. Mrs. Helen Aderibigbe; EACDA National Treasurer, Mr. Clement Otitolaiye; and other concerned sons and daughters of Ekinrin-Adde.

During the visit, the President urged the relevant authorities to conduct a comprehensive investigation to uncover the truth behind the tragic events.

According to a statement released by the EACDA National Publicity Secretary, Mr. Emmanuel Ajibola Ogungbuyi, Elder Komolafe also placed a condolence call to the family of Pelumi Adebayo to commiserate with them over their loss and to encourage cooperation with investigators.

He appealed to the Adebayo family to work with the Kogi State Government and relevant agencies to unravel the full circumstances surrounding the incident.

In their response, the family of Pelumi Adebayo expressed their willingness to support the investigation and work with the authorities in pursuit of truth and justice.

Elder Komolafe also used the opportunity to appeal to netizens and the general public to exercise restraint in making inflammatory or prejudicial comments that could compromise the ongoing investigation.
