Seven suspected persons on Friday were arrested in Emomo village in Okene Local Government Area of Kogi State by the Joint Task Force (JTF) over illegal refinery.
The JTF Commander, Lieutenant Colonel Gabriel Olufemi, who with the Acting State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Kingsley Oguntuwase, conducted journalists round the illegal refinery which is five kilometres away from Okene.
Olufemi said that other suspects with the alleged owner of the refinery who is based in Warri, Delta State, were still at large.
He explained that the illegal activities of the vandals were a well coordinated one, as they connected a pipe to the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) line which they used to siphone crude oil to their refinery where they refine it before being loaded into trucks and drums for onward movement to unknown destinations.
He called on the Security men on Okene- Lokoja-Abuja as well as Okene- Auchi- Benin roads to ensure check on the trucks transporting fuel by making sure their way bills are in order so that those transporting illegal fuel can be arrested.
