The Elulu of Mopa and Chairman Mopamuro Local Government Area Traditional Council (MATC), His Royal Majesty (HRM), Oba Muyiwa Ibeun, has admonished residents of Iyara community in Ijumu LGA to embrace unity for development.
Oba Ibeun, who was the special royal guest at the 2024 Iyara Cultural Day on Saturday, made this known in his speech.
He said that as Mopamuro and Ijumu share boundaries, it means there is a common tie between them, urging stakeholders of both LGs to take advantage of the ties for their respective development.
He appreciated the people of Iyara and Ijumu under the rulership of the paramount rulers, respectively, for inviting him as the Special Royal Guest, applauding their unity and coordination for a success programme, eventhough he is also part and parcel of Iyara.
He also congratulated, especially the Olujumu of Ijumu, HRM, Oba Williams Olusegun Ayeni, and the Eleta Oluyara of Iyara, His Royal Highness, Oba Jacob Meduteni for organising the 2024 Iyara Cultural Day.
Oba Muyiwa Ibeun seized the opportunity to emphasize the reason Okun Nation needs to be united.
He added that only with unity, peace can be reached and then attainment of Okuns’ collective interest at all fronts for her development.
He dedicated himself to the development of not only Mopamuro, but Okun Land and Kogi State at large.
Speaking on unity, Oba Ayeni, during his speech, earlier appreciated all members of the Iyara Cultural Day Committee that made the programme colourful, saying if not for unity, it wouldn’t have been a success.
The Chairman of the occasion, the State Security Adviser, Commander Jerry Duro Omodara called on all Okun Nation to be security conscious at all times to support the effort of Governor Usman Ododo led administration to battle criminals out of the State.
Oba Ibeun hailed the organisers, Iyara Development Association and Director General of the Iyara Cultural Day Committee.
Other royal fathers at the cultural event were: HRH, Oba Jemilo Olawole, the Obajemu of Iffe-Ijumu; Oba (Dr.) Michael Otitoju, the Alaga of Ijumu-Oke; and Oba Ayodele Tolorunju, Olu-Ayeh of Ayeh Gbede.
The National President of Iyara Development Association, Mr. Aliyu Badaki, during his welcome speech, especially appreciated Elulu and his entourage for coming.
