Member representing Ankpa, Omala and Olamaboro federal constituency at the Federal House of Representatives, Hon Abdullahi Ibrahim Ali Halims, has said that he would rally round leaders at all level to work towards achieving 35 per cent women representation in governance.

Halims made this known as part of his goodwill message for the year 2020 International Women Day with the theme, ‘Equal Opportunity’ for all.

He also noted that his stewardship would also be gender-friendly by encouraging women’s participation in politics.

“One of the core values of my stewardship drive is synergy. Through this, I  have set the target of meeting the Sustainable Development Goals, SDGs, of promoting gender equality and empowering women.

“I am happy that the women have never had it so good. My stewardship carries them along and to say the least, a reasonable number of women benefited in all the Constituency empowerment and outreach programs that I have done so far.

“Apart from the inclusion of women in the political rewards and their career endeavors, we have had significant progress in their meteoric motivation to education which is the pinnacle of human development,” he said.

Halims further said that women are by their nature compassionate, loving and caring, adding that “Politics is all about selfless service and deep concern for humanity’s progress which is a natural trait possessed by women through their natural roles as mothers and nurses. Hence, if the women are empowered, everyone feels the impact.”

He thereafter congratulated women all over the world as well as his Ankpa, Omala and Olamaboro federal constituency women in particular on the occasion of the International Women Day stressing the need for more political education and enlightenment to encourage women participation in politics, particularly, elective offices.
