Isanlu 2013: Kogi Wins U-15 Girls Handball Championship

The closing ceremony of the National U-12 and U-15 boys and girls Handball championship has been move to Sunday 17th, March due to heavy windy-rain on Saturday at Isanlu.

The National Sporting event which was earlier scheduled for March 7th to March 17th, 2013 but was rearranged to end on 16 before the interruption of the weather forcing the organisers to stay till Sunday 17th of March.

The President of the Nigeria Handball Federation, Alhaji Yusuf Dauda announced on Saturday evening that the unconcluded final will be played on Sunday morning by 7:00GMT, indicating that its a natural phonomen that cannot be avioded but promised the event will continue on Sunday morning.”

“The last game to be played tomorrow (Sunday) morning but its just unfortunate the weather stopped us from closing the championship today. that’s was beyond us and so will have to accept it,” Mr Dauda said.

Its was the last and 70th fiture of the championship of which the Kogi U-15 boys were scheduled to play Niger in final only for the heavy rainfall forced the game to be abandoned.

In the meantime, Kogi U-15 girls completed their triumphant run in the Championship after routing Abia who they once defeated in the group stage 16:06 in the final, Benue girls spanked Kano 14:06 to pick the third place bronze medal.

It was just a goal lead that served Sokoto the match-winner as they become the new U-12 boys champions after squezzing past Niger 13:12 who are the defending champions.

So also did Sokoto U-15 boys edged high-flying Lagos 26:25 to win the losers final to nick the bronze.

However, the winner of the U-15 boys will be known on Sunday when Kogi tackle Niger, who are the defending champions at the first edition in 2009 at Isanlu.
