The internet is one of the greatest recent advancements in the world of information, technology has become a useful instrument that has advanced the process of making the world a global village. According to ( Asdaque, Khan, & Rizvi, 2010), this is a global fact that the use of the Internet has a major impact on the student’s academic achievement and social life. Despite the positive impact of the internet on academic performance, research findings have shown that excessive internet usage negatively affects one’s physical health, family life, and academic performance.

The internet is seen as a double-edged sword comprising the negative and the positive sides. Students have only lately received the chance to use the internet to seek and obtain scholarly material and, consequently, knowledge on how successfully they make use of this channel is limited. Research shows that the use of the internet can positively enhance their academic performance and as well as improve their Quality of life. The Internet has improved the student’s life by which they search or google whatever has been asked of them in classes or from anyone it pleases the students how to take decisions on their own to make a write up of their choice, It helps to get the latest information from social media like Facebook, Instagram and more. The Internet has improved the student’s brain to have access to easy solutions to their assignments both at home and school it adds positive changes to those who learn from it.

While the Internet has brought many benefits to university students, it has also introduced new challenges and dangers in the use of the Internet to Students such as Cyberbullying, distraction, and false information which affects the student both academically, emotionally, and physically. Additionally, another negative issue is the temptation to get distracted by social media and other forms of online entertainment, leading to a decrease in productivity and focus. Another potential issue is the prevalence of misinformation on the internet, which can lead students to rely on unreliable sources and make mistakes in their research, and other forms of online harassment which can negatively impact students’ mental health and ability to learn, thereby reflecting on their academic performances.

The Internet is here to stay, as it can be a valuable tool. The internet’s impact on university students is complex and multifaceted. Students need to learn how to manage their internet usage in a way that supports their academic success by setting boundaries and staying focused on the task at hand. Students can make the most of the internet without letting it become a distraction while avoiding its potential pitfalls and also weighing the pros and cons before making any decisions about it. As well as to strike a balance between access and addiction and use the internet responsibly and healthily. With the right approach, the internet can be a valuable tool for learning and growth.”
