Inside the University of Jesus: Where the Heart Becomes the Lecture Hall

In Christian thought, discipleship is often misunderstood as mere intellectual assent. Yet, in what can be called the “University of Jesus,” learning transcends the ear and penetrates the heart. Unlike secular institutions, where information is processed by the mind, Christ’s academy inscribes truth upon the innermost being.

The Gospel makes this distinction clear. Jesus Himself declared, “My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me” (John 10:27). The curriculum of this divine university is not memorization but transformation. To enroll is not to pass examinations but to yield the heart, for only there can His message take root.

Bishop David Abioye once remarked, “Revelation is not education—it is impartation. Until the heart is circumcised, the message of Christ remains closed.” Similarly, Dr. Cindy Trimm emphasizes that “true discipleship is heart-formation, not information.” These voices underscore that without matriculation in Christ’s school of the Spirit, no lecture, however eloquent, will translate into life.

At its core, the University of Jesus is not accessed through human admission boards but through faith. The Holy Spirit serves as the resident instructor, engraving divine truths in the heart of every yielded believer. The Apostle Paul captured this when he wrote: “The letter kills, but the Spirit gives life” (2 Corinthians 3:6).

The challenge for today’s Christians is to discern the difference between intellectual Christianity and heart-born revelation. To merely hear with the ear is to remain outside the classroom; to receive with the heart is to graduate into transformation.

The invitation is clear: enrollment remains open. But unlike earthly universities, the University of Jesus requires no fees, only surrender.
