Prince Folorunsho Olafemi, a prominent chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has issued a passionate appeal for an urgent security summit in response to the escalating wave of violence and kidnappings in Yagba land.

In a video message released to journalists on Sunday, Olafemi expressed deep sorrow over the recent killings of security personnel and the growing fear among residents. He described the situation as “heartbreaking and unacceptable,” noting that the region has witnessed a disturbing rise in attacks.

“My heart is heavy. Our land bleeds,” Olafemi said. “In recent days, sorrow has become a cruel visitor in too many of our homes. Families are broken. Mothers are mourning. Children are crying. Husbands and wives have been torn apart.”

He cited the killing of five security operatives in Yagba West and the loss of two policemen in Yagba East earlier the same day, emphasizing that such tragedies have disrupted daily life and shaken community confidence.

“Their blood stains our soil. Their absence leaves holes that can never be filled,” he added. “We now live in fear, not knowing who is next.”

Olafemi extended condolences to bereaved families and expressed solidarity with victims of kidnapping, praising their resilience and courage.

“To every family that has buried a loved one, we mourn with you. Your pain is our pain,” he said. “To those who have been kidnapped, who endured hunger, fear, torture, and sleepless nights in captivity, your survival speaks of courage that inspires us all.”

While commending the efforts of the Federal Government, the State Government under the leadership of Governor Usman Ododo, local government chairmen, traditional and religious leaders, security operatives, and youth groups, Olafemi stressed that collective action is now imperative.

“Yagba people, we cannot continue like this. We are known for peace, for unity, for hospitality. This is not who we are,” he said. “Insecurity has become an epidemic. It demands all of us.”

He called on stakeholders across all sectors, government officials, community leaders, security experts, and citizens, to convene a comprehensive security summit aimed at developing lasting solutions. Olafemi also urged the government to revisit and realign previous security frameworks to meet current challenges.

“We must rise, united, to reclaim peace for our people,” he concluded. “May God comfort the bereaved, heal the brokenhearted, strengthen the weak, and guide our leaders. May God heal our land,” he concluded.
