The Commissioner of Police, Kogi State Police Command, CP Naziru Bello Kankarofi, has commended Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo for his efforts in securing Kogi State.
He acknowledged the Governor’s unwavering commitment to supporting collaborative security initiatives and reaffirmed the importance of the administration’s role in maintaining peace and security in the state.
He further commended the efforts of security agencies and Local Government Chairmen in maintaining peace and security in the state and urged continued collaboration to ensure a safer and more prosperous community.
Speaking at a high-level strategic security meeting at the Command Headquarters, Lokoja, on Tuesday, CP Kankarofi emphasized the importance of synergy between security agencies, Local Government Chairmen, and the Police to sustain a secure Kogi State.
He stressed that improved intelligence sharing and inter-agency collaboration are crucial to addressing security concerns, noting that community policing initiatives will be intensified to enhance public trust and cooperation.
In his keynote address, the State Security Adviser, Commander Jerry Omodara (rtd), emphasized that synergy is key to improving security in Kogi State. He commended the Commissioner of Police for this initiative, which will boost effective policing and public confidence.
Omodara expressed confidence that Governor Ododo’s administration is making strides in security and will continue to support collaborative security initiatives. He reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to supporting collaborative security initiatives.

The State Security Adviser further recommended that the strategic meeting be held quarterly with security-enhancing agendas to maintain momentum and improve operational efficiency across the State.
The meeting was attended by the Commandant, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Commandant Aletan Olumide Ebenezer, Mr. Peter Okon, Assistant Director, representing the DSS, CG of Kogi State Vigilante Service, Mr. Omeiza Sani, fsi, the ALGON Chairman, Hon. Tosin Olokun, Executive Chairman of Yagba West, and the seventeen Local Government Chairmen, Area Commanders, Tactical Commanders, and Divisional Police Officers. Their presence underscored the collective resolve to foster unity and cooperation in the fight against crime in Kogi State.
Discussions centered on a comprehensive assessment of the security situation in the State, including reviews of current crime trends, emerging threats, and operational challenges. The CP emphasized the importance of synergy between all security agencies, Local Government Chairmen, and the Police, describing their combined effort as essential to sustaining a secure and peaceful environment. He highlighted the need for improved intelligence sharing, stronger inter-agency collaboration, and closer community partnership to address security concerns more effectively.
The meeting provided a platform for Local Government Chairmen to speak on the situations within their respective LGAs, make suggestions, and highlight areas requiring attention. Area Commanders and Divisional Police Officers contributed valuable insights on operational realities across different jurisdictions and recommended practical measures to enhance field operations.

In his closing remarks, the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Criminal Investigation Department, DCP Christopher Bassey, commended all participants for their deep sense of responsibility and commitment to securing the State. He stressed the need for sustained collaboration and vigilance, noting that the success of security efforts relies heavily on continuous communication and shared operational strategies.
