INEC to Conduct Re-run Election in 175 Polling Units in Kogi

The Independent National Electoral Commission, (INEC) in Kogi State has said the commission will conduct re-run election in 175 polling units in the state on April 28.

The state’s Resident Electoral Commissioner, Prof Jacob Jatau, who disclosed this yesterday during a stakeholders forum, said the meeting was to ensure free, fair and credible election.

He said out of the 175 polling units, where the re-run election would be conducted, 141 of them are for the state constituency elections while 34 are for the federal constituency of Dekina/Bassa. He added that the re-run election would take place at Ajaokuta, Dekina1 and Dekina 11, Igalamela/Odolu, Ofu, and Lokoja constituencies.

He said Card Readers had been reconfigured for the exercise. He called on political parties to talk to their supporters to ensure free, fair and peaceful election in the state.

The state Commissioner of Police, Adeyemi Ogun Jemilusi, and other security agents at the meeting assured the people of the state of adequate security during the election.

The commissioner added that about 5000 police personnel would be deployed for effective coverage.
